Slow Puncture...

I had an odd puncture a few weeks ago which wasn't something I've come across before, so I think this is a good candidate for the random section,.

I'd had a few punctures which were explained by a small slash in the tyre. That's common enough, and was easy to find. However, I'd put in a new tube, replaced the tyre, yet it was still going down. I'd checked the tyre for any embedded glass/sharps that might have made their way through to the tube, but still nothing.

Turns out my brand new Continental inner tube needed it's core tightening. There's a small screw thread at the top of the valve(i.e. just below the bit your unscrew). I put it in a bucket of water, and it turns out the core was ever so slightly undone, which was letting out air really slowly.

A pair of pliers, a gentle twist on the valve core and 5 seconds later it's all fixed. Never had this issue with Continental tubes in the past, so maybe it helps someone out.
