Rennkompressor Problem...

If you're having issues with your Rennkompressor and Presta valves, believe me you're not alone. As good as this pump is, SKS didn't do a great job getting the classic silver connector to work with Presta valves.

Here are a couple of pictures illustrating the "Good" and "Bad" valve heads. I got my Rennkompressor with the bad valve head, and I had a devil of a time getting it to attach securely to a presta valve. The problem was a LOT more pronounced on a presta valve that has a threaded stem (i.e. a thread all the way down). It was better on valves that were smooth, but still not great.

You might find threads from people saying (you just clip it on) etc, but chances are they don't know about the "classic head". If you've got a classic (bad head) I'd email SKS and ask them nicely if they'd send you a new style connector. They very kindly sent me one free of charge, I suspect they'll do the same for you if you ask nicely.

The new style head is exactly what I expected from this pump. It clips on, and it doesn't bloody fall /blow off once you get to 60psi.

You can find SKS at: http://www.sks-germany.com/

Once you get this new head attached, it's an amazing pump.
