Bike Building Tips...
Here are a few of the tips I'd offer any budding bike builders.
- Cable Cutters - Get some, and check out THIS page for why
- Contingency Fund - Always budget 10% for the random accessories you forgot about (i.e. saddle packs, pumps etc)
- Bike Work Stand - Don't even try to build a bike without a proper workstand
- Tools - Make sure you have all the tools you need for the job, BEFORE you start
- Grease is the word - Have plenty of grease on hand, and make sure you use it
- RTFM - Read those manuals, they're a treasure trove of information
- eBay - It's not particularly cheap these days. Check out classifieds on forums for better deals
- Plan Ahead - If you can, buy the parts over a few months. Buy parts when you see them cheap
- Allen/Hex Keys - The MOST useful set of tools you'll use when building a bike. Get some good ones
